Learn how to craft one of our most-requested cocktails – the Juniper Toddy!
Even as Spring approaches, we still can’t seem to shake the cold temperatures at night. Warm up with a Juniper Toddy, a guest favorite from our Carriage Lounge that features a delicious rosemary-infused syrup. Be prepared for an impromptu party by making the syrup ahead of time, store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container for a month or longer.
Ingredients
1 oz. locally distilled Gin with juniper notes, Mohonk’s favorite is Warwick Valley Distillery’s Rustic Gin
1 oz. Cranberry Juice
1/2 oz. Rosemary Honey Syrup (see below)
Squeeze of Orange Wedge
Hot Water + Orange/Cinnamon Spice Tea
Rosemary Sprig & Orange Peel as a garnish
Method
Place gin, cranberry juice and rosemary honey syrup in a mug or heatproof glass. Add hot water and orange/cinnamon spice tea. Let the tea bag infuse for 3-5 minutes. Remove tea bag, add a squeeze of orange wedge and garnish with a orange peel and rosemary sprig. Enjoy!
Rosemary Honey Syrup
1 cup of local honey
1 cup of water
2 sprigs of rosemary
Bring all ingredients to a boil and stir for a few minutes. Strain the rosemary and let the syrup cool off. Makes about 2 cups.
Cheers!
