Barkan Yoga

A non-heated practice to strengthen joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments and internal organs. The intention behind the Barkan method is to balance the body, quiet the mind and nourish the soul. Ages 16+. Classes limited to 24 participants. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to start of class.

Birding and Spring Nature: Big Hour Birding Blitz
May 20 @ 9:30 am

Make a team or join another and head out around the Mohonk grounds for an hour to record the most birds possible – most species gets a prize!

Kids’ Club
May 20 @ 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

Mohonk’s award winning Tykes’ and Children’s Program for ages 2-12. Registration is from 9:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Parents, please fill out a registration form for each child prior to their first session.

Adult Swim
May 20 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Ages 18 and older. All under the age of 18 must leave the pool area during this time

Brisk Morning Hike
May 20 @ 10:00 am

Brisk hike to Sky Top via Huguenot Drive and Sky Top Road. This moderate to fast pace hike is uphill on carriage roads and returns on a path. Approximately 3 miles. Age 7 and up. Proper footwear is required: sneakers or hiking boots.

Core Strengthening
May 20 @ 10:15 am – 11:00 am

Strengthen your core and tone abdominals and back with mat work. Ages 16+. Classes limited to 24 participants. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to start of class.

Blacksmith Demonstration
May 20 @ 10:30 am

Join our resident Barn Museum curator Jim Clark to discover the techniques and skills used in the art of Blacksmithing.

Guided Mountain Bike Ride
May 20 @ 10:45 am

Take a guided ride of the mountain on wheels! Ages 16 and up. Approximately 4-6 miles. All levels welcome. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to start time to get fitted for a bicycle. Additional fee of $30 for this activity includes mountain bike and helmet.

Birding and Spring Nature: Edible, Medicinal and Poisonous Plants

Did you know: twigs of yellow birch yield a wintergreen-flavored tea … oils in the roots of sassafras were once used to make tea and flavor root-beer but are now known to contain a carcinogen … berries of black huckleberry are edible but those of red elder can be toxic without preparation? Wayne will carefully guide you on the identification and uses of select wild plants.

Birding and Spring Nature: Last chance for Garden Birds

Before the weekend birding program ends, venture forth with a seasoned ornithologist in search of a few spring migrants or dazzling resident birds of Mohonk.

House Tour

Join a member of the Mohonk staff for a brief history and tour of the House and facilities. Great for first-time guests!

Meditation
May 20 @ 11:15 am – 11:45 am

Experience the peace of guided meditation with easy-to-learn stress-reducing techniques to bring harmony and peace within. Ages 16+. Classes limited to 24 participants. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to start of class. No late admittance.

Leisurely Afternoon Hike
May 20 @ 2:00 pm

Leisurely hike along Copes Lookout Road, Humpty Dumpty Road, Short Woodland Drive, and Lake Shore Road. Approximately 2 miles. Age 7 and up. Proper footwear is required: sneakers or hiking boots.

Pilates
May 20 @ 2:30 pm – 3:15 pm

A form of exercise which emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility and awareness in order to support efficient, graceful movement. Ages 16+. Classes limited to 24 participants. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to start of class.

Tracking and Wildlife Observation
May 20 @ 2:30 pm – 3:45 pm

Read the tracks and signs that all animals leave behind as we explore woodland paths with Naturalist Michael. 1 mile. Moderate pace.

Mosaic Barre
May 20 @ 3:30 pm – 4:15 pm

Utilizing techniques from yoga, Pilates, and Barre programs, this class offers a full body workout where the focus is on strengthening and elongating muscles while improving postural alignment.  Ages 16+. Classes limited to 24 participants. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to start of class.

Total Body Conditioning
May 20 @ 4:30 pm – 5:15 pm

Circuit training that is a unique blend of calisthenics, strength and endurance, which can be accomplished with either body-weight or equipment. Ages 16+. Classes limited to 24 participants. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to start of class.

*Fitness Classes: Ages 16 and older. Classes limited to 24 participants, first come first serve. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to start of classes.
