Hiking Trails Pass - No Mountain House Access

Whether you seek the challenge of steep trails over boulders and cliffs or prefer a relaxing stroll along carriage roads, you’ll find your path on the private property of Mohonk Mountain House. There are 85 miles of winding Hudson Valley hiking trails to experience, ranging in difficulty from beginner to advanced. To prepare for your day of hiking, we recommend that you bring a packed meal, bottled water, rain gear, and headlamp.

Join us on the mountaintop for a day of Hudson Valley summer activities. Purchase a pass to experience our National Historic Landmark resort as a day visitor. The Summer Sports Pass includes access to one 9-hole round of golf, one-hour tennis court reservation, one 30-minute use of a boat, access to hiking trails, access to the Mountain House, Greenhouse, Gift Shop, and Carriage Lounge, afternoon tea and cookies, and parking in Lot B.

Hiking Updates

At this time hiking passes MUST be purchased online. Please be prepared to show an email confirmation to the Gatehouse attendant upon your arrival.

We release inventory of our Hiking Trails Passes 72-hours prior to the date of the pass. For example, if you want to visit Mohonk with a hiking trails pass on a Saturday, the earliest you can purchase these passes is the Wednesday prior.

Temperature Screening: Please be aware all guests and employees entering Mohonk property are having temperatures checked upon entry. Anyone with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher will not be permitted on property. For parties traveling together, if one person in the vehicle has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, the entire party traveling in that vehicle will be denied entry to Mohonk property.

Masks Policy: Day hiking guests are required to have face coverings (i.e. masks) while hiking on Mohonk property. Masks must be visibly at the ready at all times and covering nose and mouth anytime physical distancing of at least 6 feet from other hikers cannot be maintained. Mohonk Mountain House will not be providing masks to hiking guests.

Your hiking pass is good for the date specified on this confirmation. Your hiking pass includes access to the hiking trails on Mohonk Mountain House property. Parking for day guest hiking passes is located adjacent to the  Mohonk Gatehouse, this is approximately 2.2 miles from the Mountain House. There are restroom facilities and vending machines in this parking lot. Day hiking guests are not permitted inside the Mountain House. Hiking passes are non-refundable unless Mohonk closes hiking due to weather or other reasons.

Important Notes & Policies:

  • Hiking begins and ends at the parking lot at the Gatehouse, and we are a “carry in, carry out” facility. There is no shuttle or transportation provided.
  • Hiking is permitted during daylight hours, from 7am to dusk.
  • A hiking pass does not include access to the interior of the house or lake swimming.
  • Please bring your own food and water for your day of hiking. There is no food facility for hikers.
  • Pets are not allowed on our private property.
  • The purchase of the trail pass is non-refundable and available for booking at a first-come-first-serve basis 72-hours in advance of your planned arrival date.
