Mohonk Mountain House is a National Historic Landmark resort located just 90 miles north of New York City. Chad Nelson is a landscape architect who travels the world with Collette and the Royal Horticultural Society of England, taking people to visit great gardens on four continents. Growing up in the rich horticultural setting of the Delaware Valley and "Chateau country" gardens such as Winterthur and Longwood, Chad has gathered years of observations on which bulbs perennialize best in our climate to create a personal garden that sings in all four seasons.
Theresa Colucci AIFD, PFCI is one of those unique floral educators that put not only time into educating the future of our industry but also into building her successful floral business Meadowscent! Throughout, Theresa has faced the saddening decline of collegiate floral design programs, going from teaching floral design at the State University of New York at Cobleskill and at the NY Botanical Gardens to becoming the SAIFD Advisor to the rural upstate New York school. As an SAIFD Advisor, Theresa still inspires future floral designers and growth in the industry.
Cory McCurdy is a designer for Folia Gardens based in Brooklyn, New York, specializing in high-end urban gardens, terraces, and green roofs. He is a graduate of Ball State University’s Department of Landscape Architecture and a former Mohonk gardener.
George W. Crosby, Ph.D. is an expert in irrigation, hydroponics, greenhouse management, botany, vegetable production, and developmental agriculture. His research focuses on the production of the multipurpose tree Moringa oleifera as a leafy green vegetable in the dry tropics. He volunteers regularly in Uganda, East Africa, and enjoys a unique partnership with farmers there.
John Kuhner has taught Latin on three continents, including a five-week stint this summer teaching at the Paideia Institute's Living Latin in Rome program. He is the current president of SALVI, the North American Institute of Living Latin Studies. His interest in Latin and the outdoors led him (eventually) to botany and gardening, and he has worked off and on for the past six years at Catskill Native Nursery. He enjoys scouring the country looking for odd and beautiful plants, from the Catskills to the Smokies to the banks of the Mississippi and far into northern Minnesota.
Vincent Simeone has worked in the horticultural field for over 27 years. He received an AAS degree in ornamental horticulture from SUNY Farmingdale, and a BS in ornamental horticulture from the University of Georgia. Vincent also obtained a Masters Degree in Public Administration from C.W. Post-Long Island University in 2003. Vincent teaches horticulture classes at New York Botanical Gardens.
Andrew Koehn, garden manager and cornerstone of the horticultural mindset at Mohonk, brings over 40 years of gardening experience to the Mountain House gardens.
Carol Cramer has been a florist at Mohonk for 10 years and has been working with flowers for over 25 years. She is also an artist, showing regionally.
Cindy Muro, consummate propagator and grower of all things flora, is Mohonk’s Greenhouse and Garden Shop manager. She is in her 13th year of growing beautiful plants for the Mountain House gardens.
Andrew Sinno, Mohonk's head gardener, has worked in our gardens for over two years. He has a Bachelors in Plant Science from SUNY Cobleskill and has been in the industry his entire working life. He specializes in ornamental horticulture.
Cassandra Barr is an intern at the Mountain House from the New York Botanical Garden School of Professional Horticulture. She has been working in public and private gardens since the age of 14.
