Join us for an immersive weekend as we explore the riches of the Southern Hemisphere through its robust wine, rich music, art culture, and tasty offerings. Renowned wine expert Kevin Zraly of the Windows on the World Wine School will guide you through his acclaimed tasting of some of the top wines from the vast regions across the globe. Discover some local hidden gems through the Wineries of the Hudson Valley as well as Southern Hemisphere cuisine throughout the weekend highlighting Mohonk’s Culinary Team.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 3
Wired Art Gallery

Mid-Hudson Valley artists established wired Gallery in May 2012 with the mission to show works. Pop in to see the local art the highlights the beautiful landscape of the Hudson Valley as well as works paying homage to the Southern Hemisphere. Stop on by and purchase a gift!
Wineries of the Hudson Valley
4pm – 6pm
Kevin will be our guide as we explore some of the masterful blends of wines right here in the Hudson Valley. The creators of these wines will be on hand to provide tastings and items for purchase including Quartzrock Vineyard, Whitecliff Vineyards, and more!
Dinner from Argentina
5:30pm – 8:30pm
Executive Chef Jim Palmeri and our culinary team present a 3-course specialty menu featuring Provoleta, Asado, and Dulce de Leche Ice Cream, inspired by flavors from across Argentina.

Crushville Music

Crushville captivates with Classic Rock and Soul hits, played by some of NYC’s most dynamic musicians. Set lists feature unique mashups and an unpredictable, fresh, “not-played-out” selection of music from the songbooks of a diverse array of artists, from Prince to Aretha Franklin to Steve Miller Band and The Doobie Brothers. Members of Crushville have performed with The Temptations, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Dispatch, Frankie Valli, The Four Tops, The Huntertones, Upstate, and more.

Introduction to Samba & Tango Dance Class
10:30am – 11:45am
This morning’s dance class will provide a gentle introduction and exploration into two dances from the Southern Hemisphere – the Tango and Samba! Tango, an elegant and romantic dance that originated in Argentina, now encompasses distinctly different styles and is danced all over the world. The dancers seek to move in unison while still expressing their individual feeling of the music. Samba is a lively dance done to various Brazilian samba musical rhythms. It originated in Brazil, and evolved to include ballroom dance styles which, like tango, are danced in many forms throughout the world.
New Zealand Brunch Pairing Station
11:30am – 2pm
Executive Chef Jim Palmeri and our culinary team present a special action station in the Main Dining Room, featuring Stuffed Leg of Lamb. Enjoy the unique flavors of this vibrant region in every bite.
Wines of the Southern Hemisphere with Kevin Zraly*
2:30pm – 5pm
Renowned wine expert Kevin Zraly leads you on a tasting journey through the southern hemisphere. You’ll taste six different wines as you learn about wine styles and developing your own taste, and discover details about acidity, tannin, oak, and fruit. Kevin leads the way with stories, myths, and tantalizing tales of wine from the various regions of the southern hemisphere. After the wine tasting, join Kevin for a reception with a curated menu of hors d’oeuvres presented by the Mohonk Culinary Team. This will also be your chance to purchase a signed copy of Kevin’s bestselling wine book, Windows on the World Complete Wine Course.
*Note: Pre-registration with overnight reservation is required. There is a $75 per person program fee for admittance to the wine tasting. Space is limited. Persons under age 21 may not attend the wine tasting.

Dance Night with Los Chantas

Los Chantas is a multinational tango ensemble based in New York City. Their repertoire draws from the great Argentine tango tradition from the guardia vieja to the present. The group has been playing in milongas, clubs, theaters, and other venues in and around New York since its inception in 2002. With original arrangements of songs by Gardel, Troilo, Salgán, Piazzolla, and others, and a playful, improvised style, Los Chantas infuse classic tangos with new life and unique flavor.

MEET OUR WINE EXPERT
Kevin Zraly
Kevin Zraly is celebrating 45 years as the founder and teacher of the immensely popular Windows on the World Wine School, which has graduated over 30,000 students since its inception. Creator of the famous wine list at Windows on the World (which sold more wine than any restaurant in the world), he is the author of Kevin Zraly’s Windows on the World Complete Wine Course, Red Wine, The Ultimate Wine Companion, Kevin Zraly’s Wine Journal, and his Guide to American Wine. Kevin was honored with the James Beard Lifetime Achievement Award and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Culinary Institute of America. He has been featured in The New York Times, People magazine, The Wall Street Journal, GQ, Newsweek, and USA Today, among others.
