Our Latin American Celebration weekend welcomes you to join in the fiesta and traditions; featuring Salsa and Cha-Cha dance instruction, Calaveras painting, a tequila tasting, as well as chip and salsa bars. The celebration exploration continues, and would not be complete without the colorful variety of music including classical guitar, Salsa, Latin Jazz, and Mariachi.

Dance Class: Salsa & Cha Cha
Emerging from Puerto Rican and Cuban influences, the Salsa and Cha Cha are some of the most popular Latin dances practiced worldwide. Learn the foundational skills and polish off your steps of the Salsa and Cha Cha with dance instructor Laurie Shayler.
Calaveras Painting*
The Calaveras have become one of the most recognizable cultural and artistic elements of the Day of the Dead festivities (traditionally celebrated in early November). Made from wood, paper maché, sugar paste, or carved bone, the colorful Calaveras are joyful, celebratory figures that you have the chance to paint today for the holiday later this year.

Ancestral Art Journey to Patagonia
On her trip to Tierra del Fuego (the land of fire) in Patagonia, Elisa Pritzker had an amazing encounter with the ancient Selk’nam people. This incredible indigenous tribe is one of the original native peoples from the tip of South America, spanning modern-day Argentina and Chile. Beginning with a universal primal aesthetic and original iconography, as well as utilizing natural resources, this afternoon’s discussion explores Elisa’s connection with their culture, which influenced her artwork. We invite you to tap into the boundless power of nature.

Dance Night with Latin Jazz Express
Join Lawrence Moses as he leads the Latin Jazz Express Band through a fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms and song forms with jazz. The Latin Jazz Express keeps this great musical tradition alive with seasoned players from the orchestras of Machito, Eddie Palmieri, Chico O’Farrill, Tito Puente, Jr., Buddy Rich, Thad Jones, and Maynard Ferguson.

Mariachi Ártistico
Led by musical director Francisco Navarrete, Mariachi Artístico is a band made up of four generations of musicians originating from Estado de Mexico. Best known for their artistry in Mariachi style, this family seeks to carry forward the mariachi sounds while incorporating a modern flair.
