Summer at the Spa

Q: Hi Diane, I hope you have been well. We have some exciting new things coming up in the summer, but before we get to that, I would like to know more about your history here at Mohonk. When did you start working at Mohonk?

I have been doing fantastic! Summer at Mohonk is one of my favorite times of the year. It is when the grounds come to life with families returning each year and best of all our wedding season. I was hired for the Salon Supervisor position in February 2014. It was a bit of a commute, but worth every mile.

Q: Wow, you’ve been at Mohonk for about 10 years now. What drew you to Mohonk?

Mohonk has always been on my “career bucket list” since I first learned about it. I was so intrigued by its beauty. I am also a history enthusiast, so learning the history of Mohonk and contributing to the House History Tours here has been such fun! I have met amazing people and making a career in the spa industry has been just as lovely of a journey as one could hope for. I feel so fortunate to be a part of the Mohonk family and what it stands for as it is an extraordinary place to be.

Q: I agree that Mohonk is a very special place with stunning natural beauty and a rich history. You designed one of our guest favorites, the Mountain Renewal Ritual as an homage to our beautiful grounds and a way for our guests to feel renewed after enjoying the amazing activities our Recreation Department creates. Can you tell me more about that?

Yes, we are very excited about the response to the Mountain Renewal Ritual. This is an amazing service for after a hike, bike, and exercise, travel or just to relax. This service alternates cool and warmth. The cold reduces pain, swelling, and inflammation and the warmth increases blood flow and relaxes tissues.

Q: That sounds very beneficial and relaxing. You mentioned the uniqueness of the treatment. What sets the Mountain Renewal Ritual apart from other body treatments we offer?

This service offers a sinus relief massage, eucalyptus inhalation, cool eye globes, a cool jade compress, along with warm stones and a warm mask for the face.
