WINTER RECREATION EXPERIENCES

Join us on the mountaintop for a day of fun. These experiences are designed for residents of the Hudson Valley and their guests to experience our National Historic Landmark resort as a day visitor. Join us for ice skating in our open air Pavilion or hit the trails on cross-country skis or snowshoes.

We release inventory of our Winter Trail Passes and Winter Sports Passes 72-hours prior to the date of the pass. For example, if you want to visit Mohonk with a winter day pass on a Saturday, the earliest you can purchase these passes is the Wednesday prior.

Temperature Screening: Please be aware all guests and employees entering Mohonk property are having temperatures checked upon entry. Anyone with a temperature of 100 degrees or higher will not be permitted on property. For parties traveling together, if one person in the vehicle has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, the entire party traveling in that vehicle will be denied entry to Mohonk property.

Masks Policy: All guests are required to have face coverings (i.e. masks) while on Mohonk property. Masks must be visibly at the ready at all times and covering nose and mouth anytime physical distancing of at least 6 feet from other hikers cannot be maintained. Mohonk Mountain House will not be providing masks to hiking guests.

Come to the mountaintop this winter on the all new Winter Sport Pass and get the full experience of what Mohonk has to offer in terms of outdoor winter activities and more.

The All New Winter Sport Pass includes:

  • Equipment rental fees for ice skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and MICROspikes®
  • Access to hiking trails and groomed cross-country skiing/snowshoeing trails
  • Access to the Mountain House, the ice skating Pavilion, Greenhouse, Gift Shop, and Carriage Lounge
  • Parking in Lot B

Equipment Sizing:

  • Ice Skate Sizes start at: Youth double blade Size 10 up to Men’s Size 14
  • Ski Boot Sizes: Youth 10.5- Men’s 14.
  • Classic Skis available: 90 cm to 210 cm
  • MICROspikes® Ladies size 6 up to Men’s size 16 if wearing hiking boots. If you have large snow boots they will fit up to Men’s size 14.

Important Notes and Policies:

  • Ski Shop hours of operation 9am – 4:30pm
  • All activities are weather dependent and photo ID (ex. driver’s license) is required for all equipment rentals.
  • The Winter Sports Pass is non-refundable and available for booking 72-hours in advance of your planned arrival date.
  • Please note accessing these areas as a day guest individually will not be an option this year. Due to Covid-19 regulations and restrictions on occupancy we are required to tightly monitor access to these areas.
  • Health waivers must be completed prior to arrival at Mohonk Mountain House.
  • The Winter Sports Pass does not give guests access to the Mohonk Spa, Fitness Center, and indoor pool.
  • Pets are not allowed on our private property.

Quantity of passes will be limited due to capacity and will not be offered during holiday periods.

Immerse yourself in the great outdoors and hit the trails at Mohonk. With more than 30 miles of marked, maintained cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails ranging in difficulty from beginner to advanced and plenty of carriage roads for winter hiking, Mohonk is the ultimate destination for outdoor winter activities with stunning views of the Hudson Valley’s natural landscape.

The Winter Trail Pass includes:

  • Access to hiking trails and groomed cross-country skiing/snowshoeing trails for date of purchase
  • Parking at the Gatehouse

Important Notes & Policies:

  • You must bring your own ski, snow shoe, or traction device equipment (i.e. MICROspikes/crampons).  Trails Pass users are required to use appropriate equipment for the current trail conditions. Please reference our ski trail report to confirm what winter activity is open for each day. Winter Trails Pass gives access to trails only and does not include equipment rental or access to the Mountain House. Equipment rental will not be available to anyone with this pass.
  • Winter hiking begins and ends at the parking lot during daylight hours (7am to dusk) at the Gatehouse. We are a “carry in, carry out” facility and there is no shuttle or transportation provided.
  • Please bring your own food and water for your day of hiking. There is no food facility for hikers.
  • Pets are not allowed on our private property.
  • The purchase of the trail pass is non-refundable and available for booking at a first-come-first-serve basis 72-hours in advance of your planned arrival date.
  •  All activities are weather dependent so please call (845) 256-2197 prior to your visit for questions regarding trail conditions.

Winter Sports for Spa and Meal Guests

Have an appointment at our Spa or a meal reservation in our Main Dining Room? You do not need to purchase a Winter Sports pass to rent the winter sports equipment and enjoy the outdoors with us. Meal and Spa guests may pay a per person $27 skate session fee that includes a skate rental directly at the Ice Skate or Ski Shops. Please note this is a per session fee at the Ice Skating Rink. Equipment cannot be reserved in advance.
