Program Leaders

Chris O’Leary
Chris O’Leary is a powerhouse vocalist, electrifying harmonica player, and gifted songwriter whose music brims with raw emotion and unfiltered soul. A Marine veteran and former Federal police officer, Chris found his true calling on stage as the lead singer and frontman for Levon Helm’s band, The Barnburners, touring the U.S. and Canada for six years. He’s appeared alongside legends like Rolling Stones sideman Bobby Keys, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jimmy Vivino, Jeff Healy, Dan Aykroyd, Albert Lee, Dave Edmunds, and the great James Cotton. His debut album Mr. Used to Be won the 2011 Blues Blast Award for Best New Artist Debut and earned him a nomination at the American Blues Music Awards. Now signed to Alligator Records, his latest release The Hard Line is being hailed as his most focused and powerful work yet. Whether wielding his harmonica with locomotive force or belting out soul-deep stories, Chris O’Leary stands among the blues world’s most compelling modern voices.

Chad Smith
Chad Smith is a saxophonist, woodwind artist, and educator whose career spans Broadway, Hollywood, and concert stages around the world. His television and film credits include Lilo & Stitch, West Side Story, The Secret Life of Pets 2, American Dad, Family Guy, Ted, and Resident Alien. Now in his 18th year with the Broadway smash Wicked, Chad has also performed with the Metropolitan Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. He has reimagined the vibrant sounds of the 1920s through his acclaimed Sax-O-Philm multimedia production. A recording of Sax-O-Philm, featuring John Wilson and the Sinfonia of London, will be released on the Chandos label in July 2026. Chad is eager to share this unique blend of music and visual storytelling with audiences everywhere.

Dalton Ridenhour
Dalton Ridenhour has been immersed in the ragtime and stride piano traditions for over 30 years. His career has taken him to renowned venues and festivals including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Birdland, The Newport Jazz Festival, The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, The Scott Joplin International Ragtime Festival, The West Coast Ragtime Festival, The Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival, and The Blind Boone Ragtime and Early Jazz Festival. Based in New York City, Dalton performs both locally and internationally with groups such as The Lovestruck Balladeers, Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks, Chad Smith’s Sax-O-Philm, Naomi and Her Handsome Devils, Mike Davis and The New Wonders, Goodbye Picasso, and Mona’s Hot Four. His artistry celebrates the rich history of early jazz piano while bringing fresh energy to the tradition. Dalton’s solo album, Eccentricity, is available on the Rivermont Records label.

Lynette Wardle
Lynette Wardle is an accomplished orchestra harpist, chamber musician, recording artist, and soloist, praised for her “refined tone production and spot-on rhythmic sense.” She is the principal harpist of both the Richmond Symphony and the Albany Symphony, and regularly performs with the New Jersey Symphony and the Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center. On Broadway, Lynette has held several orchestra chairs, including The Notebook and the revival of Camelot at Lincoln Center Theater. She has also performed as the harpist for the national tour of the Tony Award-winning Light in the Piazza and in City Center Encores! productions. Her holiday credits include A Christmas Story, The Musical and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Lynette holds a Master’s degree in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.

House of Waters
House of Waters is a genre-defying trio blending West-African, jazz, psychedelic, indie rock, classical, and world music. Max ZT, known as the “Jimi Hendrix of the Hammered Dulcimer” (NPR), has revolutionized dulcimer techniques with his global influences, including Irish folk, Senegalese, and Indian classical traditions. Moto Fukushima, a master of the six-string bass, combines jazz improvisation, classical music, and South American styles to create a powerful and refined sound. Their latest album On Becoming features collaborations with Antonio Sanchez, Mike Stern, and Priya Darshini, showcasing their innovative approach to composition. House of Waters has been nominated for a 2024 GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. They have scored an Emmy-winning documentary and re-scored French Dadaist-era silent films. Having performed with icons like Pandit Ravi Shankar and Snarky Puppy, House of Waters continues to redefine the boundaries of music.

On the Trail
On the Trail is a modern acoustic band that explores everything from bluegrass to contemporary pop, from stunning instrumentals to beautiful traditional songs. The group was founded through their love of bluegrass and the band the Punch Brothers. They have already gained recognition and praise for their exploration and strong execution of the challenging music, as well as for their new original music. Most recently, On the Trail had the honor of winning the 2022 Thomas Point Beach Band Competition after participating in 2021’s Telefunken Battle of the Bands at the Podunk Bluegrass Festival. They also were selected as an Emerging Artist at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival 2023. On The Trail features Austin Scelzo (fiddle and vocals), Tom Polizzi (mandolin and vocals), Charlie Widmer (guitar and vocals) and Matt Curley (upright bass and vocals). Their latest album “Where Do We Go From Here” is also available for streaming on all platforms.

Dan Micciche
Dan Micciche is the current Music Director and Conductor of WICKED on Broadway and has been with the show for over 9 years – including the national and international tours. Prior to WICKED, Dan began his acting career on Broadway as the youngest actor to play Mary Sunshine in the Tony Award winning revival of CHICAGO. He performed in 2000 shows across 125 cities as a part of the Broadway, US national tour, Canadian tour and, the Japanese, Alaskan and Thailand companies. In 2008 Dan performed as a soloist in Bernstein’s MASS at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center and the United Palace. He was the first male to record the male soprano solo in “I Don’t Know” which was nominated for a 2008 Grammy Award NAXOS. As an accomplished conductor and performer, Dan has led workshops and masterclasses across prestigious academic and industry institutions including: University of Michigan, The Boston Conservatory of Music, Berklee School of Music, NYU, Pace, Notre Dame, Eastman School of Music, Otterbein University as well as schools in Peru, Mexico and Switzerland.

Scott Robinson
Scott Robinson, one of today’s most wide-ranging instrumentalists, has been heard on tenor sax with Buck Clayton’s band, on trumpet with Lionel Hampton’s quintet, on alto clarinet with Paquito D’Rivera’s clarinet quartet, and on bass sax with the New York City Opera. On these and other instruments, he has been heard with a cross-section of jazz greats representing nearly every imaginable style of the music, from Braff to Braxton. His discography now includes more than 190 recordings. Scott has performed in some 30 nations, in such diverse venues as Carnegie Hall, the Village Vanguard, the Library of Congress, and the Vienna Opera House. Scott’s group was selected to be the closing act at the Knitting Factory’s Sun Ra Festival in New York City. Scott has also written magazine articles and liner notes, and was an invited speaker at the Congressional Black Caucus Jazz Forum in Washington, D.C.
