Lagusta’s Luscious
Lagusta’s Luscious is a woman-owned artisanal chocolate company founded in 2003 with a deep commitment to veganism, social justice, and environmental sustainability. What began as a small ethical chocolate operation has grown into beloved storefronts in New Paltz, NY and New York City, where small-batch vegan chocolates and confections are crafted by hand using carefully sourced ingredients. The business prioritizes ethical sourcing and eco-friendly practices, from partnering with small farmers to using 100 % post-consumer recycled packaging. Known for bold flavors and imaginative creations, their chocolates appeal to both vegans and omnivores alike. In addition to classic bars and truffles, Lagusta’s Luscious offers inventive sweets and treats that reflect the company’s ethos and artisanal approach. Yard Owl Brewery
Twenty-four years ago, James and Michelle Walsh combined their shared excitement for the restaurant business and opened Mudd Puddle Café in New Paltz, NY. Fresh roasted coffee, handcrafted food, and a warm community space have been the focus since day one. In 2014, they expanded their passion for fine-crafted beverages by opening Yard Owl Brewery in Gardiner, NY. Here, James brews Belgian-inspired beers which can be tasted and bought at their restaurant Mudd Puddle Cafe in New Paltz.

Rabbi Deborah Prinz
Rabbi Deborah Prinz lectures about chocolate nationally and internationally. She was awarded a Gilder Lehrman Fellowship from the Rockefeller Library, as well as a Starkoff Fellowship and a Director’s Fellowship from the American Jewish Archives to research On the Chocolate Trail: A Delicious Adventure Connecting Jews, Religions, History, Travel, Rituals and Recipes to the Magic of Cacao, (second edition, 2017). Prinz uncovers age-old passions for chocolate consumption, ritual, and business interests using information gathered from travel to Belgium, Canada, England, France, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, and throughout the United States. Her talks span several cultures, countries, centuries, and convictions. Her children’s book, The Boston Chocolate Party, tells the story of American independence through the lens of colonial period chocolate making.

Ran’D Shine
With the flick of a wrist, the Philadelphia native has become a global phenomenon by wowing the most diverse and wildly appreciative audiences for more than a decade. His unique style and presentation so impressed President Barrack Obama that he was invited to be a special performer for the “Salute to Heroes” at the 44th Presidential Inauguration Banquet and Ball in 2009. Shortly thereafter he headed across the Atlantic to Capetown, South Africa where he performed his one-man show, “Mysterious Ways”, which was also selected for 20 performances at The South African National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, South Africa. As his fans will so gleefully attest, he is so much more than a magician. Ran’D prides himself on being an historian and ‘educator of magic’. He has lectured on campuses throughout the Unites States as well as military bases in Japan, Guam, and Korea. Remarkably, he also finds the time to give back to his most adoring fans as a fixture at numerous hospital wards where he entertains children with terminal illnesses.

Rhett Miller
Rhett Miller is perhaps best known as the front man of the Dallas-based alt-country band the Old 97’s, although he has also pursued a critically acclaimed solo career. Formed in 1993, the Old 97’s built a devoted following with their brash blend of country and power pop influences, making a splash with 1995’s Wreck Your Life, which won the group a brief stay on the roster of Elektra Records, a period kicked off with one of their finest hours, 1997’s Too Far to Care. In his solo career Rhett has captured attention, as a literate songwriter training his eye on such subjects as fatherhood, sex, and love.
