For the Experienced
This route will cover three separate land parcels including Mohonk Mountain House, Mohonk Preserve, and Minnewaska State Park. The route is an out and back with a twist but the penultimate reward is Awosting Falls waterfall.
Begin at the Mohonk Bike Shop and follow Copes Lookout Road. Make a right onto Laurel Ledge Road and follow it downhill to Rhododendron Bridge. Enjoy the cool, dark hemlock forest on this western side of the property. Make a right turn onto Overcliff Road and follow to Trapps Bridge. Cross over Trapps Bridge and follow Trapps Road until you cross a paved road (Lyons Road). You will see a gate on either side of the road, cross over Lyons Road, and continue on the carriage road. You are approximately 1.25 miles from the falls at this point. The return will retrace your route until Trapps Bridge. At Trapps Bridge, make a right onto Undercliff Road. This road will have many different users, including rock climbers, hikers, runners, and other cyclists. Use caution while going downhill. Follow Undercliff Road to Rhododendron Bridge. Stay straight onto Laurel Ledge Road to a left on Copes Lookout Road and return to Mountain House. Great option for an E-bike.
