Horses have been an integral part of our New York, castle resort since our founding in 1869. During Mohonk’s early years, horses were the sole means of transportation for guests, baggage, and freight. Visitors arrived in their own horse-drawn buggies or were picked up at train stations by Mohonk carriages.
Today, Mohonk horses serve recreational purposes only. In winter, the horses are turned out on a 30-acre pasture at Chapel Farm, free to enjoy a season of rest and relaxation.
