Halloween Haunts & Happenings

Visit us for a weekend of Halloween fun to experience the Mountain House coming alive with table top mysteries, Halloween crafts, live music, trick-or-treating, the mysterious “Night Watchman Tour” and more! From evening campfires to Halloween short films with a live musical score, there are plenty of activities to enjoy for all ages.

Friday

Wired Art Gallery
10am – 6pm
Wired Gallery was established in May 2012 with the mission to show works by Mid-Hudson Valley artists. Pop in to check out some local art and find a gift!
Halloween Photo Op
4pm – 10pm
Your favorite childhood monsters come together for a frightfully fun photo op, inspired by villains from Scooby Doo.
Halloween Carnival
7:30pm – 9pm
Enjoy all your favorite parts of Halloween at our Halloween Carnival! Ghostly games, prizes, fortune telling, apple cider donut eating contest, fantastic photo booth, and much more. Fun for all ages!
Campfire and S’mores
8pm – 9pm
Join “Beyond the Ridge” for a night of fun songs around the campfire. Great family fun with s’more of our favorite gooey treats!
Halloween Movie Night: Hocus Pocus

Halloween Costume Dance Party with Highly Cyrus!
9pm – 10:15pm
Show off your Halloween costume in a fun dance party featuring live music with Highly Cyrus! Hear #1 hits from across the decades, transformed by their unique blend of feel-good Reggae.

Halloween Photo Op
9am – 9pm
Your favorite childhood monsters come together for a frightfully fun photo op, inspired by villains from Scooby Doo.
Table Top Mystery
9:30am – 6pm
Teams of up to 4 people will enjoy a 20 minute challenge of whodunit to see if they can solve the Mohonk mystery. Up to 20 people per time block, recommended for ages 7 and up.

Trick or Treat Bag Making
9:30am – 12:30pm
Come and custom design your own trick or treat bag. Casey Carr will lead you through this fun project using a wide variety of fabrics to decorate durable cloth bags to be used for trick or treating! All materials will be supplied.

Live Animals and Superstitions with Jan Berlin
2:30pm – 3:30pm
Black cats, horseshoes, rabbit’s feet, and eye of toad – discover the origins of some of the most common and often laughable beliefs regarding animal “magic”. Join Mohonk favorite Jan Berlin and spend some time with a few live animal ambassadors associated with superstitions and Halloween – you might be surprised at how truly delightful they really are!
Trick-or-Treating!
3:30pm – 5pm
Families can go trick-or-treating around the Mountain House. Be sure to bring your favorite costume! Pick up a map/list of all the locations you can visit to collect your tricks and treats.
Tomahawk Throwing
3:30pm
Please join our Activities staff for this fun and engaging skill. There will be a required 10 minute safety orientation before the event. Limit 30. Sign up required-no earlier than 24 hours in advance. Please call 845-256-2186 to sign up. No late admittance. Ages 13 and up. Closed-toe shoes required.
The Night Watchman Tour
7pm, 7:45pm, 8:30pm, & 9:15pm
Join us for a chilling encounter with spirits from the past through historic and local lore. The tour will begin in Mohonk’s opulent parlor, where you will be met by your guide, the mysterious Night Watchman. He will take you on an entrancing journey through time, with visits from spirits of the Hudson Valley including: Betsy Booth, Lorena “Hick” Hickock, Governor George Clinton, and Pamela Pillsworth.
Please note: tours are 30 minutes each and will venture outside. Tour groups limited to 30 people.
Kids Night Out: Halloween Party
7pm – 8:30pm
Come dress for a night of fun – featuring games, spooky snacks, and more! Drop off program for ages 4 -12.
Evening Movie: ‘Halloween’

Robert Bard Trio

Enjoy a musical treat with the Robert Bard Trio! The band features talented local musicians who will help you unwind from the Halloween haunts with smooth and relaxing Jazz

Halloween Shorts with Live Score
10:30am – 11:30am
Celebrate Halloween season with a fun, all-ages program of spooky animated and live action short films, performed with a live musical score. You’ll see classics like Tim Burton’s Vincent, Disney’s The Skeleton Dance, and more! Performing live music is Tenth Intervention’s Hajnal Pivnick (violin) and Dorian Wallace (synthesizer/piano). Using synthesizers, string fx, drum machines, and looping, this duo creates mesmerizing and unexpected live sonic landscapes to your favorite films.
