Enjoy hands-on workshops like centerpiece arranging and flower crown-making, or try your luck at Plant Bingo, where prizes abound in succulents and garden treasures. Discover the stories behind our gardens through guided tours, garden-to-glass tastings, history and tea pairings, and even Seneca Lake wines enjoyed among music and blooms—and don’t forget to get an up-close look at Mohonk’s bees, complete with a taste of our house-made honey.

Program Leaders

Clinton Claussen
Clinton Claussen is the Garden Supervisor at Mohonk Mountain House. He has worked at Mohonk for six years, where he has curated his passion and knowledge of plants. The Shawangunks hold a special place in his heart. He is fascinated by the native flora and fauna of the area and brings that fascination to the Mohonk Gardens. Along with native flora, Clinton enjoys bringing interesting and unusual plants to the landscape, especially those that attract pollinators and further build a fun, sensory experience at Mohonk.

Ian Reifenberger
Ian Reifenberger is the Head Gardener at Mohonk Mountain House. Ian has been at Mohonk for three years and specializes in sustainability and environmentalism. He is passionate about sustainable gardening and landscape design. Being able to cultivate gardens not just to accent the property, but to harmonize and blend with the beautiful natural environment at Mohonk is important to him.

Circle Creative Collective
Circle Creative Collective is a local community organization of artists and makers that aims to connect and inspire diverse groups by sharing and preserving traditional crafts and skills. With a specific focus on promoting crafts, skills, events, and transformative ideas to honor unique heritages and shared experiences, this collective pursues a more inclusive, creative, and joyous world. Their repertoire includes hands-on social multigenerational workshops drawing on traditional, multi-cultural, and sustainably-sourced crafts including papermaking, weaving, soap-making, felting, gardening, beekeeping, foraging, and many more! Maeve Turner
Maeve Turner is the Head of Gardens and Horticulture at The Frick Collection, where she oversees the care and interpretation of the institution’s three historic garden spaces. Appointed in 2024 ahead of the museum’s highly anticipated reopening, she plays a key role in shaping how these beloved indoor and outdoor environments are experienced by the public. With more than fifteen years of experience, Maeve has contributed to major horticultural initiatives across New York City, including work with the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the High Line. During her decade at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, she served as curator of the Herb Garden, designing and maintaining diverse plantings while leading educational tours and programs. As one of the original gardeners on the High Line, she helped cultivate its distinctive landscape and contributed to large-scale sustainability efforts. At the Frick, Maeve manages the Fifth Avenue Garden, the historic Garden Court, and the 70th Street Garden, while also developing new programming that brings fresh perspective to these spaces. She holds a B.A. in Environmental Analysis and Policy from Boston University and is recognized for her thoughtful approach to connecting horticulture, history, and public engagement.

Raphael Silverman
Raphael Silverman is rapidly emerging as one of the most compelling young guitarists on today’s jazz scene. A native New Yorker and a recent graduate of Columbia University, Raphael already performs and tours with some of the most respected names in jazz. He is a member of the bands of two iconic former Art Blakey Jazz Messengers—Philip Harper and Johnny O’Neal—and has shared the stage with Eric Alexander, Rodney Green, Akiko Tsuruga, Peter Washington, Billy Drummond, Winard Harper, and many others. He leads the Raphael Silverman Trio and has appeared at renowned venues such as Smalls, Mezzrow, Ornithology, Jazz Forum, Minton’s Playhouse, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. He has also toured internationally in Europe and in Asia with Johnny O’Neal. Silverman’s music pays deep respect to the lineage of jazz guitar while carving out a fresh, personal voice.

Aaron Seeber
Aaron Seeber, from Queens, NY is making his name as an emerging Jazz drummer in New York City. As a performer, Seeber has had the incredible opportunity to share the stage with greats Eric Reed, Pete Malinverni, Warren Wolf, Grant Stewart, Cyrille Aimée, Jeremy Pelt, Paul Bollenback, Tim Green, Ugonna Okegwo, Bruce Harris, Gary Smulyan, Mike Ledonne, Freddie Redd, Butch Warren, Chuck Redd, and many others. He has performed internationally with The Warren Wolf Trio and nationally with the GRAMMY award-winning group, The New York Voices. Aaron has played at many of the renowned venues and festivals around the world including Blues Alley, Marian’s Jazz Room (Switzerland), The Blue Note New York, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Birdland, The Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, Twins Jazz, The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, The Caramoor Jazz Festival, The DC Jazz Festival and The Falcon. Seeber recently recorded his debut record “First Move” featuring Warren Wolf, Tim Green, Sullivan Fortner, and Ugonna Okegwo. It will be released May 13th, 2022 on Cellar Live Records.

Joey Ranieri
Joey Ranieri is a bassist whose natural affinity for the instrument was evident from the moment he first picked it up at age 15 in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. With a keen ear and refined musical taste, he sought out the city’s leading jazz musicians and began an important mentorship with bassist Dennis Carroll, whose guidance helped shape his harmonic depth and musical maturity. Joey further honed his craft as a participant in the highly selective 2019 Vail Jazz Workshop. He has since worked extensively throughout Chicago and New York City, performing with renowned artists including George Coleman, Johnny O’Neal, Eric Alexander, Houston Person, Emmet Cohen, and Mary Stallings, among others. At the core of his musical philosophy is a dedication to taste, the blues, and developing a distinctly personal voice on the bass.

Maki Ninetao
Maki Ninetao is a jazz pianist whose playing reflects a thoughtful blend of tradition and spontaneity, honoring the genre’s rich legacy while embracing the freedom of improvisation. Harlem-born and raised in Washington Heights, he is a Dyckman Institute Scholar at Columbia University, where he is pursuing a degree in history with a minor in psychology. Deeply influenced by his grandfather—who encouraged both his musical and academic pursuits—Maki is drawn to history for its storytelling and its power to illuminate pivotal social and cultural moments. Alongside his studies, he remains an active presence in Columbia’s jazz community, regularly performing with the University’s jazz ensembles. Rooted in his Uptown community, Maki values staying present, building meaningful connections, and continuing to shape his artistic voice both on and off the bandstand.

Hajnal Pivnick
Hajnal Pivnick, a Hungarian-American violinist, is a leading figure in modern, community-driven music as both a performer and curator. With performances spanning the United States, Europe, and Cuba, she collaborates with top new music ensembles, Broadway productions, films, and international recording artists. As co-Artistic Director of Tenth Intervention and Operations Director of Musicambia, Hajnal pioneers experiential art, social consciousness, and community-centered music creation. Recent highlights include featured musician credits in the Academy Award-winning film “Everything, Everywhere, All At Once” and Grammy award-winning “Refuge” by Geoffrey Keezer. Through Tenth Intervention, she collaborates with diverse artists and attracts grant support from prominent American arts institutions. Currently based in New York City, Hajnal also shares her expertise as a violin faculty member at Interlochen Arts Camp and through her Manhattan-based private studio.

Dorian Wallace
Dorian Wallace, a composer, pianist, and music therapist, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy from Montclair State University. Celebrated for his exceptional improvisation skills, stylistic versatility, and abstract storytelling through music, Dorian is known for collaborations with various artists and his commitment to human rights work. He has provided music services for figures like Angela Davis and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, integrating political music into his piano improvisations on his Twitch stream, “Dorian’s Mode.” Currently signed with Ropeadope, Dorian’s work extends beyond performance; he co-founded Mederi Muzik, an organization focused on trauma recovery through arts-based liberation psychology, and serves as co-founding artistic director of Tenth Intervention, a progressive new music collective exploring social justice through contemporary music and live scores. Additionally, he is a sought-after dance accompanist in New York City, providing musical support for renowned institutions such as Martha Graham Dance, Juilliard, and New York University.
