The Music of Miles Davis
June 11
5:00 PM
Miles Davis is one of the most important figures in jazz, alongside other greats such as Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. As a trumpet player Miles had a unique, spacious and introspective sound. From inventing Cool Jazz with his album “Birth of the Cool” in the late 40’s, to his post Be-bop 50’s and 60’s quintets featuring artists like John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock, to creating Jazz Fusion in the 70’s and 80s, Miles was constantly reinventing himself and his music in exciting and surprising ways. Along the way Miles recorded the most popular jazz album of all time, “Kind of Blue” and such treasures as “Porgy and Bess”. Join the Vinnie Martucci Quartet as we take a journey to explore the music of Miles Davis.
