Watch the Perseid meteor shower with Bob Berman, one of the best-known and most widely-read astronomers in the world. Bob is uniquely able to translate complex scientific concepts into language that is understandable to the casual observer, yet meaningful to the most advanced. He is an editor of Astronomy magazine, the astronomy editor of the Old Farmers Almanac, and the author of eight books. His newest is Zoom: How Everything Moves

2:30 p.m.  The Greatest Sky Spectacles
of the Next Decade

This colorful one-hour program reveals the whats, whens, and wheres of the major upcoming meteor showers, probable auroral displays, and total eclipses in the years to come—and takes us on an exploratory tour across the universe.

8:45 p.m.  Night of the Shooting Stars
One of the best meteor showers of the past five years unfolds tonight. After meeting to talk about "meteor essentials" and  the houses that have been clobbered by meteorites during the past 20 years, the group will go to a special field to observe the shooting stars, accompanied by Bob's narration. Towels (for spreading on the ground) and flashlights will be provided.
