PAST PROGRAM LEADERS
Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez is a singer/composer based in Brooklyn, NY. Rooted in Jazz and R&B, Raina builds a unique sonic world with harmonic nuance and lyrical poetry. Releasing her four debut singles in 2018, Raina has over 300k streams on Spotify and a budding global audience. Touring locally, her trio has appeared on stage at venue such as Mohonk Mountain House, The Falcon, Unison Arts Center, and has a standing residency at NYC’s famous Rockwood Music Hall.
James and Michelle Walsh
James and Michelle Walsh combined their shared excitement for the restaurant business seventeen years ago and opened Mudd Puddle Café in New Paltz, NY. Fresh roasted coffee, hand crafted food, and a warm community space has been the focus since day one. In 2012, they expanded their passion for fine crafted beverages and food by opening Yard Owl Brewery in Gardiner, NY. Here, the team comes together to brew and serve expressive Belgian inspired ales. The beer is paired with house made pickled vegetables and eggs and beer mustards that are served with cheese, charcuterie and pretzels. This venue has enabled them to create a second community space and expand their creativity into another area of the food and craft beverage world.
Rhett Miller is perhaps best known as the front man of the Dallas-based alt-country band the Old 97’s, although he has also pursued a critically acclaimed solo career. Formed in 1993, the Old 97’s built a devoted following with their brash blend of country and power pop influences, making a splash with 1995’s Wreck Your Life, which won the group a brief stay on the roster of Elektra Records, a period kicked off with one of their finest hours, 1997’s Too Far to Care. In his solo career Rhett has captured attention as a literate songwriter training his eye on such subjects as fatherhood, sex, and love.
