Hudson Valley All-Stars Gingerbread Competition
December 5 – 23, 2020
In honor of our 5th Annual Hudson Valley Gingerbread Competition – and as a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic – we’ve transformed our region’s beloved Gingerbread Competition into a virtual month-long event. Our committee has invited our competition’s “All-Stars” from the past four years to design and build a Gingerbread creation. We are anticipating some incredible creativity and craftsmanship from each competitor!
Each gingerbread entry will be on display at Mohonk Mountain House from December 4th through January 1st for Mohonk’s overnight and day guests to view in person. Our team will be compiling high quality photo and video assets of each gingerbread entry to create our virtual competition portal.
We invite everyone to view and vote for your favorite!
Online Voting Period: December 5 – 23, 2020
Winner Announcement: December 24, 2020
CONGRATULATIONS to this year’s winner BRENDAN IMBARRATO for his gingerbread creation entitled “Classic Victorian Mansion.”
We are so incredibly grateful to our all-star competitors who helped continue the Hudson Valley Gingerbread Competition this year even though we could not all be together in person.

SPREADING THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT
Once again, we are excited to spread the joy of the Gingerbread Competition to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. 100% of the proceeds of this fundraiser will be donated to this local non-profit to support their efforts to alleviate hunger in our region. This year, more than ever, families are struggling. We so appreciate your generosity as we come together to make a tangible difference for so many.
Last year, the Food Bank helped more than 117,000 food-insecure friends and neighbors by distributing nearly 15 million pounds of food through a network of 400 member agencies throughout the region (Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan, Rockland, and Putnam counties.)
Donate ANY AMOUNT and you’ll be automatically entered to win a $100 Mohonk gift card. We will be selecting 10 WINNERS!

2020 Gingerbread Entry: A “Picture Perfect” Christmas
The scene is a snapshot into a New England Christmas country town during the Victorian era. The piece is designed to mimic a painting or postcard of the country town using size and perspective as you view it from he front. Intricate detail work can be seen to highlight Victorian era decorating sensibilities and styles. There are plenty of hand crafted characters throughout including carolers, Santa and some furry friends. The intricate stone work on which the town sits provides a solid base for the terraced town. The forefront of the piece is a skating pond with a pair of Victorian ice skaters twirling about on the ice. Last but not least, the backdrop is a mixed media landscape painting to tie the whole thing together.

We’ve built a gingerbread house complete with hip roof, dormers, gables, wraparound porch, stained glass windows, gazebo with an octagonal roof, gingerbread fretwork and other architectural embellishments found in Victorian-era homes. There are 9 carolers dressed in their Victorina best, singing while the family dog guards the front door. 3 trees are decorated for the holidays. Gifts are in the gazebo along with a barrow of apples for the carolers.
