Rated PG-13. 1 hour 37 minutes, 2004. Mean Girls follows the story of Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan), a teenager who was homeschooled in Africa by her scientist parents. After moving to the suburbs of Illinois, she enters public school for the first time, where she quickly learns about the unspoken social rules that govern the student body. Cady is drawn into the world of "the Plastics," a group of popular and manipulative girls who dominate the social scene. As Cady becomes more involved with them, she discovers the toxic and superficial dynamics of high school popularity, ultimately finding herself caught between staying true to her values and fitting in with her new friends. The film is a sharp and comedic exploration of friendship, social pressure, and the consequences of trying to conform.
