Swimming & Water Sports
Lake Mohonk is a half-mile long, 60-foot-deep mountain lake surrounded by pristine forests. We invite guests to take advantage of all the lake has to offer, from swimming to boating to fly fishing.
There’s nothing quite like taking a refreshing dip in a natural mountain lake. Supervised by lifeguards, swimming is available for overnight guests from Memorial Day Weekend through mid-September. Even if you don’t feel like getting in the water, you can sun yourself on our beach or docks and take in the peaceful view. Another popular summer activity is our lake swim, where guests can enjoy a supervised swim across the lake from the beach area to Open Camp.
Year-round, overnight guests can take advantage of our 60'x30' indoor heated swimming pool which features an underwater sound system, children's area, classes, a daily adult-only swim hour, and lanes for lap swimming.

Boating and Fishing
Getting out on the water in a boat can be one of the most serene experiences. Take out a rowboat, paddleboat, canoe, or kayak for a relaxing time on the lake. Take a good book for uninterrupted reading time, or try your hand at fishing. Lake Mohonk is an ideal spot for catching the oversized trout that live below. Each spring the lake is stocked with brown and rainbow trout for the busy season ahead. Fishing equipment, rods, and bait are available for purchase at the Boat Dock. (Must be age 16 or older to use the kayaks.)
Fly fishing is the art of fishing using a rod, reel, line and lure specifically designed to resemble a fly and its activity. Learn to fly fish with Bert Darrow, author of Bert Darrow’s Practical Fly Fishing. Individual and group fly fishing/casting lessons are available for overnight guests.
Individuals may book sessions that include roll casting, false casting, and fishing on the lake. Bert will demonstrate the best fly fishing techniques to attract a fish to the artificial fly. Off-site excursions to local streams and rivers are also available with advanced notice.
For additional information or to book private casting lessons (overnight guests only), please call (845) 255-1000 extension 2186.
Interested in a more active challenge on our lake? Paddleboards will test your balance and agility, as they offer an entirely new way to experience the lake—standing upright on your own! (Must be age 16 or older.)
