Upstate New York Day Trips
Day Guests at Mohonk Mountain House
Located in the middle of 40,000 acres of pristine forest along the Shawangunk Mountains, Mohonk Mountain House is a beautifully scenic Victorian castle resort with an abundance of activities available onsite. If you do not have an overnight reservation, we invite you to purchase a grounds pass to enjoy hiking or make a reservation for a meal for access to selected activities at our resort. With an array of activities from tennis to ice skating to hiking, our resort is ideal for Hudson Valley day trips. Learn more about available activities below.
Guests who are interested in visiting on a day trip from NYC may purchase a hiking pass at the Gatehouse and park in the adjacent lot. The suggested walking route from the Gatehouse to Picnic Lodge is Huguenot Trail to Whitney Road to North Lookout Road – there will be signs to Picnic Lodge. The distance is approximately two miles.
A shuttle is available to and from Picnic Lodge daily in the summer season and, in spring and fall, on weekends.
Please note: Purchases of Hiking Passes are subject to availability and do not include access to lake swimming. Parking space is limited and we encourage you to arrive early in the day, as our day visitor parking can fill quickly on weekends, holidays, and especially during fall foliage! There are times when we are unable to accommodate day visitors without prior arrangements or reservations.
