Grove Building Renovations

Mohonk Mountain House is committed to preserving our century-old building, so each winter we refurbish an area of the Mountain House. From January 2012 through the end of May, we will be restoring 55 guest rooms, located on the first through fourth floors of the historic Grove Building of the Mountain House. Originally constructed in 1893, the Grove Building is the northernmost wing of the Mountain House where the dining rooms are located.

The project will result in these important improvements:

  • Renovation to the interiors of 55 guest rooms, including new bathrooms, interior and exterior doors, windows, thermal and acoustical insulation, new millwork and finishes throughout.
  • We will be creating several adjoining rooms and reconfiguring the floor plans to some rooms to offer our guests larger, more favorable layout options, which will be particularly appealing to families. As a result, at the end of the project we will be left with 48 rooms as compared to the original 55.
  • New hallway finishes on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors.
  • Replacement of balconies and the roof on the exterior of the building.

Throughout the process, we will pay particular attention to eco-opportunities, allowing the Mountain House to be more energy-efficient through the installation of new windows, replacement of exterior doors, and improvements to thermal insulation and HVAC controls.

As always, our aim is to have Mohonk remain “the same, only better.”
